I Should Have Left UCLA Players In Jail, Says Trump

The president tweeted that Ball is "unaccepting" of what he did for his son, LiAngelo Ball, adding that because of that he should have left the college students in Chinese jail.

Earlier Sunday, Trump said "I should have left them in jail!", referring to the three UCLA basketball players arrested in China for shoplifting, one of whom was lightning rod LaVar Ball's son LiAngelo. Like I told him, "They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes".

Ball's son LiAngelo and two of his teammates, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley, were arrested November 8 after stealing designer sunglasses in Shanghai, according to the New York Times.

The players faced potential jail sentences for shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store in the country, however Trump reportedly spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping about the matter.

"Who?" Ball told ESPN when asked about Trump's involvement in the situation.

"I'd also like to thank President Trump and the United States government for the help that they provided as well", LiAngelo Ball had said.

Yemen rebels vow escalation as Saudis look to relax blockade
The government-controlled port of Aden has re-opened and Sanaa airport is operating for commercial flights, however this is inadequate as "needs are so huge", he said.

All three subsequently did thank Trump at a news conference later that day.

Freshman LiAngelo Ball was detained along with Jalen Hill and Cody Riley almost two weeks ago and returned last week after Trump said he had a long conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping about the incident.

This all started, you may recall, when Trump tweeted after returning from Asia that the three UCLA basketball players who got in trouble for shoplifting in China should thank him for saving them from a decade in prison.

So although Trump received the praise he seems to have desperately sought from the players, Ball's comments nonetheless triggered a characteristically petulant (and not at all authoritarian) response from the president on Sunday.

As long as my boy's back here, I'm fine. The team's head coach, Steve Alford, later announced the trio was suspended indefinitely. "I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses", he said.
