Congressional investigators discover more emails related to infamous Trump Jr. meeting

Trump Jr. says he communicated with Hope Hicks, not his father, about Trump Tower response

"This gets down to, this is a privileged communications only if the conversation was undertaken was the attorney by both of them for the objective of seeking legal advise and the same attorney represented both of them", Painter said.

Veselnitskaya said of the meeting: "Donald Trump, Jr. asked if I had any financial documents proving that what may have been illegally obtained funds were also being donated to Mrs. Clinton's foundation".

Donald Trump Jr. should be forced to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee-and it should be public, not behind closed doors, a key Democrat on the panel said Tuesday.

It is also very convenient for Trump Jr. because the questions surrounding who knew what and when about the June 9 meeting are a central part of the investigation into collusion between the campaign and Russian Federation.

"We will be following up with his counsel", Schiff said. Trump Jr released the emails in July.

During voluntary closed-door testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, Donald Trump Jr. cited "attorney-client privilege" to avoid answering questions about a critical discussion he had with his father this past summer following explosive New York Times reporting about the Trump campaign's efforts to collude with Russian Federation.

Storm Caroline to bring snow and 80mph winds to the UK
Later this week, snow and falling temperatures are forecast for parts of Britain. Sunday's weather warning is in force from 04.00 on Sunday until 23:55.

When Trump Jr. posted his full email exchange with Goldstone on Twitter showing he was promised the meeting would produce dirt on the Clinton campaign, George Kaveladze emailed his father asking why Trump Jr. was admitting "collusion", two sources with knowledge of the email told CNN. None of the emails were sent directly to the president's son, and were sent between British publicist Rob Goldstone and then-campaign aide Dan Scavino, who is now the White House's social media director and assistant to President Donald Trump.

The conversations that Trump Jr. may have had with his father after the June 2016 meeting are of interest to investigators primarily due to the fact that the younger Trump went into this meeting on the presumption that the Russian lawyer he would be meeting with had connections to the Russian government and that the goal of the meeting was to discuss potentially damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

"Mr Trump was cooperative at all times", Conaway said.

The conversation between Trump Jr. and his father was about a meeting Trump Jr. had at Trump Tower in June 2016 with a Russian lawyerto get "dirt" on Hillary Clinton.

Given all of this, the conversations that Trump Jr. may have had with his father both before and after this meeting are relevant to the Russia investigation because they go to the question of what Trump may have known about efforts by high-ranking officials in his campaign about contact with Russian officials and when he may have known it. The White House has said the president was involved in drafting an early statement saying the meeting primarily concerned a Russian adoption program. He acknowledged discussing that matter with his father, but refused to answer questions about that discussion on the basis of attorney-client privilege.

Legal experts say that's not how attorney-client privilege works. If none of the parties are attorneys then there is obviously no privilege. Trump Jr. claims that at the time, President Trump was debating between a longer and a shorter statement while Trump and Hicks were aboard Air Force One. Additionally, a conversation that includes a party and his attorney along with a third party that the attorney does not represent would generally not be considered privileged.
