Justice League disappointment leading to DC movie shake-up

Geoff Johns is expected to stay on as DC Entertainment's chief creative officer, with it said Johns' role going forward "may evolve, and could be more advisory in nature".

According to reports, Jon Berg, Co-President of Production at Warner Bros Pictures, will leave his post at the studio to become a producer with filmmaker Roy Lee, who has backed successful films for the studio, including IT and The Lego Movie.

Naturally, hearing this from Hecker will only increase fans' desires for a Snyder cut, which could result in Warner Bros. putting out a new version of the film down the line.

Justice League came, and in spite of boasting iconic superheroes like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, the film failed to impress moviegoers and critics.

(L-R) Ben Affleck as Batman and Zack Snyder.Warner Bros. The studio hired on Joss Whedon to punch up the "Justice League" dialogue, and he took over directing the reshoots after Snyder left the project following his daughter's suicide.

Rahul mocks PM Modi, BJP over Gujarat manifesto delay
Counting of votes and the results would be announced together on December 18. Modi urged voters to turnout in large numbers. He said that Congress may even get 110 seats.

Despite DC and Warner Bros.' efforts to promote the film, it has turned out to be a critical failure, having a score of only 41 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. This would put everything under one studio instead of DC remaining in a separate building on the lot. The changes to DC are expected to be made by next month. It was meant to be the equivalent to Marvel's The Avengers for the studio.

There are no immediate plans for Zack Snyder to direct another DC Comics movie. There are now no plans for Snyder to direct another DC movie, although he's producing or executive producing films like Wonder Woman 2 and Aquaman. So while Snyder maintains a production deal with the studio as he develops The Last Photograph, I wouldn't necessarily expect him to return to the DCEU anytime soon.

But the real news is here is that even outside the Marvel comparison, the DC franchise is failing, and failing hard - both creatively and at the box office.

Up next for the DCEU is James Wan's Aquaman for December 2018; Shazam! is in development for an April 2019 release, the Wonder Woman sequel has a November 2019 release, and a movie for The Flash (said to be Flashpoint) is in development. Though the over-$800-million worldwide gross for "Batman v Superman" cushioned the blow for Warner Bros., Variety reported that the studio was concerned by the dark tone of the "Justice League" script and was hoping for something lighter. The film follows DC's mightiest superheroes - Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) - as they band together in taking down Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds).
