Winter storm warning, Code Blue remain for South Jersey

As of noontime Saturday snow advisories and warnings were expected to remain in effect until 1 a.m

It's going to be a fast introduction to winter this weekend, as the East Coast and even the South see a snowstorm that will span 2,000 miles in total. A winter storm dumped almost 2 feet (58 cm) of snow on the suburbs of Washington, D.C., on Saturday before moving on to Philadelphia and NY, paralyzing road, rail and airline travel along the U.S. East Coast. Benji makes for a two-thousand mile swath of snow from Texas to New England.

The storm moved through the South to the Gulf Coast and the panhandle of Florida.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for Hillsborough County and surrounding areas starting 11 a.m. on December 9 until 3 p.m. December 10. Emergency management officials planned to open warming centers in Baltimore, Pasadena, Odenton and Edgewater Saturday night through Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service says to expect periods of snow which will cause travel difficulties.
