"Every year we do this Noon Year's Eve for the kids to celebrate New Year's", said convention center General Manager Jessica Corona.

Shortly before the clock struck noon, the event's master of ceremonies began the traditional countdown, prompting hundreds of voices to resoundingly chime in, shouting, "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1", before bellowing out in unison, "Happy New Year!" while hundreds of multi-colored balloons rained down upon them.

Megan Lojewski said she and her family didn't plan on staying up until midnight so the event was a good option.
