WIND CHILL ADVISORY: Schools delayed Tuesday morning amid risky cold

A warmup to the 30s is projected next week

Wind chill warnings will go into effect tonight for much of central IN, as wind chills fall to risky levels leading into the Tuesday morning commute. Early morning wind chill values will be extremely cold and could be as low as -15°F. Dress accordingly in plenty of layers and minimize exposed skin. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken.

Wind chill temperatures are forecasted to improve slightly during the afternoon, but will quickly drop back during the evening. High temperatuatures will be near freezing, but most areas will stay below freezing.

A very brutally cold New Year's Day it has been as temperatures will struggle to reach 0 degrees.

Powerball jackpot hits $384 million for Saturday drawing
If you didn't score the big Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot this week to top off the year, you aren't alone. The winning numbers on Wednesday were 3, 9, 16, 56 and 60 with a Powerball of 3 and a Power Play of 3.

Temperatures will break freezing briefly on Wednesday.

There may be a few light snow showers around on Wednesday night and on Thursday. More potent storm system moves in Sunday and Monday, which should bring a host of different precipitation types depending on locations - still too early to pinpoint types and amounts, as well as timing of precipitation this far out.

A wind chill advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills.
