Time travel? Flight takes off in 2018, lands in 2017

A plane took off in 2017 landed in 2018 and it's a true story

So time travel is possible, apparently.

But because the International Date Line rests on a longitudinal line between New Zealand and Hawaii, where the flight was heading toward, the flight actually crossed back into the year 2017 by the time it arrived.

The flight crossed the global date line, causing the alleged time travel.

It's not so complicated and apparently very common.

Browns begin to process winless season, hope for better days
The Eagles rested several starters on a frigid day and played others briefly after securing the NFC's No. 1 seed Monday night. As unlikely as beating the Steelers seems from the outside, players are convinced at kickoff they can win.

The time difference between the two destinations is almost a day - with Auckland's time being 23 hours ahead of the Hawaiian capital. This happened due to a takeoff delay, and a quirk in the time zones that define the world. Sam Sweeney, a transportation reporter for Washington, DC, station WJLA, was the first to notice the sci-fi-esque take-off and landing times of the flight.

The Journalist took to his twitter handle and said, "Because of an unexpected delay, Hawaiian Airlines flight 446 took off in 2018 and will land in 2017".

A quirk in scheduling led passengers of this airline to experience something few people get to do in their lives: celebrate the same New Year's Eve twice. Now, because of the presence of Dateline, Honolulu is 23 hours behind Auckland and it was because of this that they travelled in the previous year.
