Alexa will cook your food for you in 2018

Amazon has added the kitchen companions to the list of gadgets that can conceivably be controlled by the Alexa personal assistant.

HOME INVADER Amazon has announced an update to its Alexa API that could see the AI assistant arrive in your, er, microwave. Amazon's Alexa-powered devices Echo, Echo Dot and the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote were the retailer's No. 1 and No. 2 top-selling over the holidays products, respectively, Amazon said.

Amazon says that, to begin with, Alexa will be able to set microwave cook times, modes and power levels, but there's no word as to whether the AI assistant is yet smart enough to figure out how to set the ruddy clock. "Cooking capabilities will also be available in other countries soon", Amazon has stated. Instead of pressing multiple buttons to enable advanced microwave features, users can simply use their voices.

Final game of the season: Packers take on the Lions
Then, with 3:02 to go in the half, a Detroit punt bounced off a Packer player and the Lions recovered at the 14-yard line . According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press , that's exactly what tight end Michael Roberts did on Saturday.

"Customers have now connected tens of millions of smart home devices to Alexa, including cameras, door locks, lights, entertainment systems, and thermostats".

Recent reports reveal that Whirlpool will be among the first appliance brands to feature Alexa integration, enabling consumers to "soon" "configure, start, and operate" its suite of smart microwaves. In addition, you could ask Alexa to preheat the oven to 450 degrees. GE Appliances, Kenmore, LG, and Samsung are also working on using the cooking capabilities in the Smart Home Skill API to let customers control their ovens and more appliances by using Alexa. Amazon explained further telling CNET that, "we're making it easier for device manufacturers to build for Alexa by providing a common framework". Up until now companies had to create custom skills for Alexa to command their appliances.

"We're excited to take the next step in our work with Amazon through the Alexa Fund investment and to offer our customers even more engaging experiences with their June Ovens", said Matt Horn, CEO of June Life.
