Utahns cross state lines for Powerball, Mega Million tickets

Someone in Louisville won $50,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing

"I play when it gets real high, say at least $200 million or so!" said retired doctor Fred Loeb of Kansas City.

Those unclaimed prizes range from $31 million for a ticket purchased in Queens, New York in August of 2006, to $77 million for a winning ticket purchased in Georgia in June 2011. The odds of winning that one are 1 in 302 million.

"It's the dreams, thinking what you could do with that money, imagining the possibilities", he said. "You can't win if you don't play", said Powerball ticket buyer, Tim Ray.

It became even more hard to hit a Mega Millions jackpot beginning with the October 31 drawing when the matrix of balls was altered.

"We never have had the jackpot but we are hoping it's this time", Green said.

"I bought 20-something dollars worth of merchandise", he said as he held a brown bag of items he picked up while across the state line. That's a lot of money.

Kim Jong-un Willing to Take Part in PyeongChang Olympics
The tests have led to more worldwide sanctions and pressure on the North to end its nuclear expansion. We know that North Korea would never initiate a first strike on the United States.

"90 percent of it I would give away". But, as THV11's Winnie Wright tells us, the winners aren't the only ones who benefit from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. $400 million or something. I could help some friends and then enjoy the rest of the $10 million or so I would take home after taxes. "'I won?! No! I didn't!' Of course there would be a jubilation".

There's a misnomer that people in Arkansas don't win the big bucks, but she says that's not true.

Mega Millions would be the fourth largest jackpot in that game's history at $450 million if someone matches all six numbers on Friday night. We don't always hit the jackpot, but we did once in Arkansas.

The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots hover around and exceed the $500 million mark.

But the odds of winning?
