Ex-Google employee behind anti-diversity memo sues for discrimination

NATION-NOW Ex Google engineer Damore sues alleging discrimination against white conservative men
Former Google engineer sues for discrimination

The lawsuit, filed Monday by Mr. Damore and another former Google employee with California Superior Court of Santa Clara County, also claims that the company uses illegal quotas in order to hire women and minorities.

Former Google engineer James Damore, known for circulating a controversial diversity memo that led to his firing at Google in August of a year ago, is now suing Google for discrimination in a lawsuit that aims to represent anyone working for Google who believes they have faced discrimination at the company on account of their "perceived conservative political views", "their male gender", or "their Caucasian race".

But Damore's complaint appears to focus on how hard it is to be a white man in a primarily white and largely male-dominated field and goes after Google for discrimination against being male or Caucasian and its "open hostility for conservative thought".

Furthermore, Google discriminated against the plaintiffs by threatening to blacklist employees with conservative viewpoints and even allow harassment against those with viewpoints that ran against "liberal orthodoxy", according to the complaint. The memo said that "genetic differences" may explain "why we don't see equal representation of women in tech and leadership".

HMD Announces Nokia 6 (2018) With Upgraded Specs
Elsewhere, the speaker setup on-board the original Nokia 6 came with dual amplifiers and support for Dolby Atmos sound technology. Many would, in fact, even say that the new Nokia 6 is what last year's Nokia 6 should have been in the first place.

As BuzzFeed News reports, several women have filed discrimination suits against Google, alleging that the company paid them less than their male counterparts, and faulting the company for asking the female hires about prior pay.

Google chief Sundar Pichai said "portions of the memo violate our code of conduct and cross the line by advancing harmful gender stereotypes in our workplace".

Damore's suit, which comes from the opposite end of the spectrum, was expected, given his very public hiring of Dhillon, in August.

Neither Google nor Damore could be reached for comment by time of publication.
