Roseanne Barr on supporting Donald Trump, and reviving 'Roseanne'

Here's Why Roseanne Conner Will Be a Trump Supporter on the'Roseanne Revival

Roseanne was never a show to shy away from tackling hot-button issues and the ABC revival, premiering March 27 on ABC, is about to continue that tradition. "Of course I love Oprah like everybody else", Barr said when asked about the daytime TV mogul's now-famous speech.

Many original cast members returned for the revival including Goodman, who plays Roseanne's husband Dan, and Sara Gilbert, who portrays daughter Darlene.

Roseanne Barr (left) said making her TV counterpart a Trump supporter made sense for the show about a working-class American family. "I would really like to see an end to "hatriotism" in this country", she said.

We got a preview of that during the press tour panel for the show, which began when a journalist asked about the parallel between the new "Roseanne", in which Roseanne Conner supports Donald Trump, and Barr herself, who has been vocal on Twitter about backing Trump and blasting Hillary Clinton, among others.

Barr took issue with a reporter asking about Trump's xenophobia ("That's your opinion"), but she did admit that Trump "says a lot of insane sh*t..." It's not an entirely unfair subject matter, since Roseanne Conner, on the show, is revealed to have voted for Trump. It didn't take long for the panel discussion to divert to Roseanne's personal politics, and how it will be impacting the program.

After deadlock, talaq bill pushed to Budget session
For the first time, Union ministers and (ruling party) MPs were seen standing in the Rajya Sabha and stalling Parliament", he told reporters.

"It was working-class people who elected Trump, and that was very real and needed to be discussed", said Barr, who added that the idea of people hating others for voting differently from them is "un-American".

She continued, "One bright thing I read today is, this is the lowest black unemployment for many, many years, so I think that's great". I'm not a Trump apologist.

"Well, that's your opinion", Barr replied to the reporter, adding that Trump says "a lot of insane (expletive)". "I think it was time for us as a country to shake things up and, you know, try something different". "I was anxious that people wouldn't want to touch [Roseanne], that everybody was proud of it and wanted to leave it alone and not risk anything", Gilbert said. "Nobody is brainwashed into agreeing with 100 per cent of what anybody said. I think that a great way to fight racism is that everybody has a job".

She also claimed that she would be a better president than both Oprah Winfrey and Susan Sarandon, and maybe even better than Trump himself.

One the show's writers attempted to speak, but Barr interrupted by saying, "Speaking of racism, I'm just going to say it".
