Shunning Trump, EU strongly backs Iran nuclear deal

White House, Congress Scramble to Save Iran Nuclear Deal in Face of Opposition

Trump on January 12 is facing another quarterly deadline for certifying whether Iran is in compliance with the deal. "However, It won't have the same effect as the crippling sanctions before the nuclear deal was reached because it will only be imposed by the United States and not Europe, Russia or China".

While the USA lobbies the allies that also signed the nuclear deal to support changes to the agreement, European diplomats are to meet Thursday with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Prior to his arrival in Brussels early on Thursday, Zarif was in Moscow, Russia, where he conferred with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday about the necessity of implementation of the JCPOA.

"The unity of the worldwide community is essential to preserve a deal that is working, that is making the world safer and that is preventing a potential nuclear arms race in the region". "Iran is fully complying with the commitments made under the agreement". It polices Iran's compliance with the accord, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

That requirement has caused increasing friction in the White House as senior national security officials and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson work to convince an increasingly frustrated Trump that he preserve a deal the president believes is flawed, sources said.

UANi disappointed, calling on the European Union and USA to find a solution.

The foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany threw their weight behind the pact limiting Iran's nuclear ambitions and insisted that the Islamic Republic is respecting it. But Mr. Trump warned it remained a possibility.

However, in October 2017, US President Donald Trump called for decertifying the agreement, alleging Iran had committed "multiple violations", which Tehran has denied.

Over the last few years police have kept a permanent presence in the area, but they have not deterred potential robbers. Hemingway famously "liberated" the bar after arriving in Parison a tank at the end of the German Occupation in 1944.

European capitals will also be dismayed, having pressed Washington to accept that the deal was an global agreement and that Iran has abided by its terms. "It is under continuous review and our participation can be cancelled by me as president at any time", Mr. Trump said.

But the European envoys also questioned Iran's foreign minister, Mohammed Javad Zarif, over disputes such as the country's missile program and its role in Syria's war as a key ally of President Bashar Assad.

Iran, which on Monday warned the world to get ready for Washington abandoning the deal, has said if the US walks away from the agreement it is ready to give an "appropriate and heavy response".

U.S. Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Steven Goldstein has said that Trump will announce his decision on Friday.

Under the accord, Iran slowed its nuclear program in exchange for an easing of worldwide economic sanctions.

United States officials told the Associated Press on Wednesday that Mr Trump was expected to extend the sanctions relief for another 120 days. But Iran has always taken pride in reminding the world it can restart its nuclear programme in a matter of days.

"Salehi said that in case the USA fails to honor its commitments under the Iran nuclear deal, Iran will adopt measures that can affect the current trend of Iran's cooperation with the agency", the Iranian report said.

Protests began on December 28 over economic issues, Tehran's Middle East policies and the country's religious establishment.
