FBI Knew Vegas Gunman Had Big Gun Stashes

Plans for a Jimmy Buffett

Marilou Danley, girlfriend of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock, was in the Philippines when the October 1 massacre occurred, authorities have said.

A federal judge on Friday made public more than a dozen search warrant affidavits that had been filed by the FBI in the days and weeks after the shooting.

The Las Vegas gunman exchanged emails about buying rifles and bump stocks months before he carried out the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history using guns equipped with the device that allows semi-automatic weapons to fire almost as fast as automatic ones.

However, the agent said authorities hadn't ruled her out as a person of interest.

A US judge in Nevada unsealed documents Friday showing some of what federal agents learned about Stephen Paddock in the week after the Las Vegas shooting. Investigators scoured her social media accounts and emails - one of which he, Stephen Paddock, had access to.

The documents didn't answer the key unanswered question: What motivated a 64-year-old high-stakes gambler to unleash gunfire from his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort into an outdoor concert below. Paddock killed 58 people and left hundreds more injured before killing himself.

The records released Friday were partial in nature, and mostly included requests to search Paddock's homes, digital devices and email accounts.

"While investigators obtained a DNA buccal swab sample from Danley", one search warrant request stated, "she spontaneously stated that her fingerprints would likely be found on Paddock's ammunition because she occasionally participated in loading magazines". Both called it an ongoing investigation.

Turkey condemns USA plans to build new Syrian border security force
About half the force will be SDF veterans, and recruiting for the other half is under way, the Public Affairs Office said. Washington opposes those autonomy plans, even as it has backed the SDF, the anti-ISIL coalition's main partner in Syria.

Included in the documents was a Paddock apparently sent himself in July, from two different accounts, which read like weapons advertisements and mentioned AR rifles and bump stocks. He modified assault-style rifles to shoot rapidly, set up cameras to watch for police outside his hotel room and wounded a security guard in the hotel hallway.

Paddock used anonymous communications devices, including a prepaid cellphone.

"The methodical nature of the planning employed by Paddock, coupled with his efforts to undermine the preceding investigation, are factors indicative of a level of sophistication which is commonly found in mass casualty events such as this", the documents read. And Paddock's vehicle at the hotel contained several pounds of ammonium nitrate, a material used to make explosives, CBS News reported.

An FBI agent told a judge on Oct.3 that Danley cooperated with police and there was no evidence at that time of "criminal involvement".

Other searches were conducted at a house the gunman owned in Reno, where agents found a red SUV and a neighbor reported that Paddock kept a safe the size of a refrigerator in the garage.

Newly unsealed search warrants show that investigators trying to piece together the details of the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas have not yet found a motive.

A federal judge unsealed more than 300 pages of search warrants related to the mass shooting October 1 that killed 58 people and wounded hundreds, but the documents do little to reveal what prompted the attack.
