Chromecast users are facing Wi-Fi interruption issue

Google Cast devices causing routers to drop Wi Fi connections

TP-Link acknowledge the issue, saying many users of its Archer C1200 have been experiencing issues with network connectivity, and offered up some technical insight into what is going on.

That's because, while the Archer C7 was particularly susceptible, the problem appears to be endemic to the whole line of Google Cast products.

To make sure there's a live connection between your smartphone and Google products (like a Chromecast), internet packets are sent across roughly every 20 seconds. According to the engineer, that could exceed over 100,000 packets, an amount that "may eventually cause some of router's primary features to shut down - including wireless connectivity".

Router manufacturers like TP-Link, Linksys and Netgear have acknowledged the problem and issued firmware updates, and these updates will act as mitigation until a patch for Cast is issued by Google itself.

Essentially the Google devices are waking up from sleep and then sending way too much data at once to the routers, causing them to crash.

Some minority Steelers owners want Mike Tomlin fired
Roethlisberger said on the show he does not have the freedom to audible to a QB sneak in those situations. "Being incredible. If that's the case then it would presumably put the blame on Haley for the fourth-down playcalling against the Jaguars .

As explained by the engineers in an FAQ listing, the issue exists due to multicast DNS (MDNS) packets that are broadcast through Google Chromecast and Home in a large amount, at a very high speed in a short amount of time. In the meantime, some users have found that taking the Google device in question off of the network fixes the issue.

The short explanation here is that Google's devices often send a lot of information at once when they wake up from sleep mode. Users say hooking up these Google hardware products leads to an unstable Wi-Fi network or a network that goes down entirely.

If you're suffering from the issue, TP-Link recommends disabling the Cast feature on your Android phone and/or tablet for now. Even if it doesn't fully fix the issue, it's best to keep the router up to date and patched regardless. Alternatively, you can opt to turn off your Google Cast devices and the problem will disappear.

We hope Google comes out with a fix as soon as possible or else users will have a hard time dealing with fluctuating WiFi connections and that could be pretty annoying.
