UKIP death spiral: Deputy leader Margot Parker resigns over Henry Bolton scandal

UKIP's ruling national executive committee unanimously backed a vote of "no confidence" in Bolton on Sunday.

Bolton has been under pressure to resign for more than a week since it emerged that Jo Marney, the woman he had left his wife for shortly before Christmas, had sent a series of racist text messages about the soon-to-be princess Meghan Markle.

Ukip leader Henry Bolton is a "cock-led conceited ass" who is set to be expelled from the party, according a senior source.

Calling for "cohesion" in Ukip and rather than focusing on the leadership debate, Mr Bolton urged the Party to "concentrate on such matters as the local government election campaign and the necessity of mobilising our efforts to ensure the government delivers true independence in all areas of government and administration when we leave the European Union".

In a tweet, David Kurten, who resigned as UKIP education spokesman, called on Bolton "to step down with dignity rather than extending the current debacle for another four weeks".

UKIP chairman Paul Oakden said Mr Bolton was "disappointed" by the NEC's decision but understood "that the party has a process to go through".

Although such claims are not new, "with even Bolton admitting that his ousting could be the end of UKIP, this time he might just mean it", says Politico.

Mr Bolton has faced repeated calls to quit over offensive texts sent by his former girlfriend.

Marney apologized, said his remarks had been taken out of context, and was expelled from party.

Miocic makes history with latest title defence
On the ground, Ngannou had difficulty defending himself, taking poundings and holding Miocic's weight, which added to his fatigue. Referee Herb Dean had to tell Ngannou to show some willing but the softly-spoken giant looked broken in his 13 fight.

But after considering the offer for around 20 minutes, Bolton chose to fight on, meaning the anti-EU party needs to call an Emergency General Meeting within 28 days to allow members to decide if whether to oust the leader.

UKIP's deputy leader has resigned in protest over Henry Bolton's refusal to step down as head of the party. "This puts the party in a limbo situation".

Ms Parker's announcement was quickly followed by immigration spokesman John Bickley confirmed he would not continue in his role under the current leader.

If Bolton does not resign, party members will decide his fate at a meeting next month.

Mr Bolton said it had lost his confidence and that of members, branding it "unfit for purpose".

Under UKIP rules, an emergency general meeting must be staged within 28 days to endorse or reject the no confidence vote.

Woolfe required urgent medical attention after fighting with fellow Ukip MEP Mike Hookem in at the European Parliament. "If the members vote me out that's up to them". "If he forces us to hold an EGM, he will only humiliate himself further", said Neil Hamilton, the UKIP leader in Wales.

Reading from his iPad, the former soldier gave a ten-minute presentation to the committee on why he should remain in post.
