Fiji have beaten South Africa 24-17 to win the Cup final in Hamilton.

Australia secured third spot at the New Zealand rugby sevens in Hamilton with a last-ditch penalty goal as Fiji fought back to win the title from South Africa.

Fiji has knocked New Zealand out of the Hamilton sevens.

Determined to better their performance in Sydney a week earlier, Shujaa collected 12 points, losing in the 5th place playoff match.

Australia, who were fresh from winning Sydney Seven, had to settle for bronze after beating Cape Town Sevens champions New Zealand 8-7 in third place play-off.

The Blitzboks looked to be favorites ahead of the final after comfortable wins over Scotland in the quarters and last week's victor Australia in the semis.

Fiji were crowned the champions after coming from behind to beat series leaders South Africa 24-17 in the Cup final.
