Suspected militants storm Kashmir hospital to free prisoner

According to the reports, the terrorists fired shots at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir, and then fled from the spot. This firing led to the prisoner getting escaped.

Though a police official on condition of anonymity said that it was a militant attack, well placed sources suggested that that there was no other militant except the prisoner- Naveen Ahmed alias Abu Hanzala, a top operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

He is believed to be an accomplice of top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Dujjana who was killed in Pulwama a year ago in an encounter with security forces. Two policemen have died, police said.

The police team was taking six prisoners, including Jhutt, to the hospital for treatment, said Deputy Inspector General (Central Kashmir) Ghulam Hasan Bhat, who visited the scene of the attack. One policeman is critically injured and another is injured. He had a scuffle with escorting police party and suddenly two persons appeared and opened fire.
