Apple working on iPad with Face ID

Apple working on iPad with Face ID

According to people familiar with the matter, rather than focusing on introducing a slew of new features on the next iOS update, Apple will put more emphasis on offering a polished, reliable software experience and introducing only select key features.

Apple's shift is aimed at giving its engineers more time to fine-tune existing iOS capabilities, and reduce the pressure on them to deliver big, new, headline-grabbing features, according to a report in Bloomberg today that cited unnamed company insiders.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman is reporting that Apple plans to bring Animoji to the iPad thanks to the release of a new model of the tablet that features the company's Face ID module.

Apple has yet to confirm the change, but the reported strategy isn't surprising.

For the a year ago, armchair analysts and experts have been debating whether the glitches mean that the quality of Apple software is getting worse.

According to the New York Post, security researchers claim access to iBoot could have huge security implications - even if the data is two years old. iBoot source code could provide jailbreak communities with new ways to hack iOS devices.

Meagan Duhamel , Kaetlyn Osmond, Patrick Chan, Scott Moir, Tessa Virtue and Gabrielle Daleman were also on the winning squad. Rippon's win is particularly enjoyable, as it comes after Fox News' vice president penned an op-ed arguing that the U.S.

Apple is expected to release a new version of iOS in September.

Planned 2019 features include the ability to open multiple windows inside apps on the iPad, redesigned home screens for the iPhone and iPad, and new features for the Apple Pencil stylus. Although present in the early developer betas, it was then quietly pulled and failed to materialize again in the iOS 11 release later that year.

The change could lead to more polished software update and less bugs. iOS 11 hasn't been ideal so far, for starters, with customers having to contend with autocorrect bugs, messages arriving out of order, and the calculator app misbehaving. Previous reports have suggested that some major iOS 12 features have been delayed for the sake of quality. In its request, Apple wrote that, based on the forks it reviewed, "we believe that all or most of the forks in these networks are infringing to the same extent as the parent repositories".

That's changed in recent years.

In other words, Sinofsky says, what's happening at Apple is a natural reaction to the balance a giant project like iOS needs.

Meanwhile, more details have emerged about how a critical bit of Apple source code - the iBoot bootloader that helps launch iOS on mobile devices - appeared last week on the code repository GitHub. Apple knows what it's doing, and the change in its development process will make it stronger in the long run. Apple is deciding to head off a process that stopped producing the desired output. But if it crashes less often, lots of people should be happy.
