Patty Jenkins is returning to film the sequel after directing the first Wonder Woman.

The new date means Wonder Woman 2 will no longer have to compete with Star Wars: Episode IX for box office attention so soon after its release, as the sci-fi epic is scheduled to open on 20 December 2019. The main goal of the character, however, has always been to defeat and kill Wonder Woman and rule the Themyscira. Cheetah was created by William Moulton Marston and Harry G. Peter, first appearing in Wonder Woman #6.

The Saturday Night Live alum is in talks to play the villainess Cheetah in Warner Bros'. superhero sequel, EW has confirmed. The Barbara Minerva version as envisioned by George Perez and Len Wein is the iteration of the character that has taken a firmer hold, including playing a major role during recent the Rucka/Sharp/Scott revamp. The 44-year-old actor has emerged as the frontrunner to play the role of Cheetah, who is known to possess superhuman strength and agility in the comics, reported Variety. She might not seem like the instantly obvious choice, but the unexpected nature of this casting is what makes it so delightful. After her team is slaughtered in an ambush, Minerva ends up stumbling onto an ancient ritual of the Cheetah god and she ends up being possessed by the deity rather than the woman meant to imbibe the spirit.

The three of them escaped but were trapped in a cave. Though the DCEU is in a constant state of flux, as it experiences one shake up after the next, Wonder Woman 2 is a sure thing. Unfortunately, she has reportedly turned out the offer. There's no telling whether her Cheetah will be the ideal match for Diana, but it's a step in an intriguing direction nonetheless.

She went on to play the Amazon warrior goddess in Wonder Woman and Justice League. She tried to use her criminally sly ways to obtain it but failed.

Just to totally confuse you, there are two other Wonder Woman characters with the Cheetah moniker: Deborah "Debbie" Domaine, niece of the original Cheetah, and Sebastian Ballesteros, an Argentinian businessman. She would succeed and escape to Africa, but where she learns her powers are weakening.
