NCHS students to join National School Walkout March 14

Students are using social media including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to organize the march and rally support for the survivors and for more gun control legislation, including actions that have been voluntarily taken by some retailers. "The walkouts are student-led and will be coordinated in conjunction with school administrators to keep students safe while respecting their choice to share their voice".

National School Walkout Day is planned for March 14, exactly one month after the Parkland shooting.

In schools around the country kids have begun to speak out about the need for gun control. A recent survey of school superintendents statewide indicates that more than half of respondents have rising concerns about the needs of our students in non-academic areas, including health, safety and mental health.

Such were the diverse opinions lobbed across the tables in a high-school journalism classroom in Englewood, two weeks after a school shooting in Florida killed 17 and one week after unverified rumors of a person threatening to bring a gun to school in Englewood caused heightened security in the school district. In the absence of adult leadership and consensus on how to address this issue, impacted students around the country have stepped up to say they have had enough.

As the discussion continued, the district held a faculty meeting to make plans for the day. District administration has advised high school students that students who participate in the nationwide event will not be disciplined, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Loughead.

However, those who teach Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps programs may be allowed to carry guns, according to the bill.

Rep. Cynthia Stafford, a Democrat, called it a unsafe policy that could disproportionately impact students of color who might be mistaken for shooters.

Germany to start work on trade, China, Syria war, says Merkel
Following the SPD's emphatic decision for a new partnership, Merkel is expected to launch her fourth government by mid-March. Angela Merkel, also referred to as "Muttie" (mother) Merkel is still a popular choice in her country.

Haley said everyone wants to ensure that students and staff are working together to make sure students are included and feel productive and part of his or her school, as one thing that has come out of school shootings is that the majority of shooters have been students who are disengaged from school and do not feel a part of it. At this time, the student will hand in their written permission slip to the office, and gather in for "peaceful assembly" at the school's tennis courts. But, she acknowledged students may participate in both the forum and the walkout.

"It's time for this to never happen again", Shahidi said.

"We are planning to walk out on the front steps at 10 in the morning and for 17 minutes, do a moment of silence for each victim", Clark said. The two sold a home elsewhere in the state and moved to Parkland so that Kyle could go to the school.

They will have to enter through the office floor and sign in.

"Once we were made aware that our students would be participating in the March 14 walk out, our efforts became focused on student safety".

When asked what the district planned on doing for students who do not wish to walk out Kathi said "originally, we had heard that the students would be escorted to the cafeteria and then other sources have said that they heard they're going to ask everyone to leave the building".
