Google is releasing the first developer preview of the next major Android update, called Android P, today. Android P will not support Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P as well as the often-forgotten Pixel C tablet. Just yesterday, Google released the first developer preview for its new Android build. The Developer Options section now has a setting to simulate cutout displays. It's not a surprise, as a number of Android OEMs like Asus are embracing the notch.

Another feature Google has introduced with Android P is Indoor Positioning. (As some commenters noted, it also looks basically like the Patreon logo.) As you scroll up and down, the colors change and the P gets bigger and smaller in a funhouse-like effect. Also worth mentioning is that flashing the system image will keep users from getting OTA updates, so you'll have to manually flash the image for each new build that comes in, including the final build once it's sent out. Users can reply to messages inside the notifications themselves.

Google has finally released the Android P Developer preview.

If an app is in the background and not active, it won't be able to access your microphone.

By the end of this year, the Nexus line will formally end and so will Google Android tablets. This should open up new capabilities for apps, so that they can access streams simultaneously from two or more cameras. One of the most important one being support for display cutout.

Jeff Sessions to make 'major sanctuary jurisdiction announcement' tomorrow in Sacramento
The Justice Department filing says all three laws improperly attempt to regulate federal immigration at the state level. Details haven't been released, but he'll be appearing at a California Peace Officers' Association event.

"Better Autofill" is added to make it easier for password managers to enter passcodes for users essentially striking out the need of "switch-apps-and-copy-and-switch-apps-and-paste" process.

Other features include power efficiency, and improved app compatibility.

The Job Scheduler is getting smarter and would understand the device's network state and batching apps network requests together.

Today, Google formally announced the next major update to Android, now called Android P. The release came as a surprise, as we expected Android P to be unveiled in mid-March, with the incoming Pi Day being a likely candidate for the event.
