'Idol' contestant surprises mom with call from Katy Perry and Lionel Richie

“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest with judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan

The situation went down on American Idol when a contestant auditioned to the panel and apologized to the 33-year-old judge for being a huge fan of her arch-nemesis, Taylor Swift.

It has been long reported that Perry and Swift are in various stages of feuding with each other, so this definitely was an awkward moment for Katy, now an Idol judge alongside Bryan and Lionel Richie.

"Oh, you don't have to be sorry!"

Katy Perry keeps making headlines while being a judge on American Idol.

There's been another update on the feud between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and people can't quite work out if any shade has been thrown.

Plan B not bad thing for Jets at QB
Crowell is joining the Jets on a three-year contract, adding depth to their backfield following the retirement of Matt Forte. Forte recently announced his retirement after two seasons with the Jets, creating a need for the team this offseason.

"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not", Swift said of the unnamed enemy she calls out in the song. "I love her as a songwriter as.as well".

Katy Perry didn't miss a beat, although her tongue got a little tied as she talked. Katy has her own response - "I love her... as a songwriter, as well", she says, before flashing a grin of her own. This isn't the first time that Katy has spoken about her support of Taylor's songwriting, and it's possible that she genuinely meant what she said.

Katy Perry previously hinted she was ready for the drama to end with Taylor but that the "Shake It Off" singer wasn't ready to shake things off. Swift then released the song "Bad Blood" that fans think is about Perry.

When Perry's album Witness dropped in June 2017 Swift re-added all of her discographies to streaming services which fans think was a calculated move to hurt Perry's streaming numbers. It airs every Sunday and Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
