Changes Made For Season 2 Of '13 Reasons Why'

13 Reasons Why season 2

In response to the report, the streaming giant has announced a number of changes, including an introductory video from the main cast of the show - Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Justin Prentice, and Alisha Boe - warning the users about the topics and nature of the show. The site, created by Netflix, gives parents the ability to watch the show along with their kids and gives them talking points on issues that appear in the show, like suicide, bullying, and sexual assault.

"But if you are struggling with these issues yourself, the series may not be right for you", warns Davis.

"By shedding a light on these hard topics, we hope our show can help viewers start a conversation, says Langford".

"13 Reasons Why" may have been an extremely popular drama, but it certainly wasn't without its controversies.

It looks as though 13 Reasons Why could be as hard-hitting as ever when it returns for its second series on Netflix. Due to its coverage of issues like suicide, depression, bullying and rape, the series received some backlash from its viewers a year ago.

The show's first season drew hefty criticism for its graphic content, most notably the season finale's gut-wrenching scene in which one of the show's main characters, 17-year-old Hannah Baker, kills herself.

Netflix just a released a new video equipping teenagers and adults with helpful tips on suicide and other mental health issues. "I'm all about suicide prevention".

Public schools nationwide condemned the show, sending out letters to parents to make them aware of the topics it covered.

Following the results of a recent survey conducted with viewers of 13 Reasons Why, Netflix has revealed their planned inclusion of supportive messaging for future episodes, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The study also showed that parents agreed that the show brought up important topics, but they wanted more resources added.

Netflix has also established a discussion guide at 13ReasonsWhy.info, which includes advice from mental health experts and contact information for crisis prevention centers and helplines.
