More murders committed in London than NY

The murder rate in London over the past two months exceeded New York City's for the first time in modern history, according to reports.

The spokeswoman said it was too early to draw any links between the attacks, which come amid concerns over rising violent crime in the capital.

The British capital also suffered 22 fatal stabbings and shootings in March, higher than the 21 in NY.

The most recent one being investigated by the Met Police is of a 20-year-old man who was stabbed moments after leaving a bar in Wandsworth, south London, on Sunday.

The latest death, in Bow, east London, came as gures showed there were 23 murders in London in March, compared with 21 in NY.

City Hall said it is "deeply concerned" but insists London "remains one of the safest [cities] in the world". The cities have a similar-sized population.

In an effort to reverse the risky trend, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick announced that the capital's police force will increase "intelligence-led" stop-and-search.

Saudi Crown Prince holds talks in NY
In April 2017, Abadi said that "every Iraqi citizen has a right to believe that Saudi Arabia is a supporter of terrorism". The Prince's planned meeting with Bill Gates is likely meant to add some philanthropic lustre to his image.

London's gun laws are among the strictest in the nation, but a significant spike in knife crimes is the driving force behind this crime wave.

The murder rate in London has risen above New York City's as stabbings in the capital of the United Kingdom have driven the increase.

Including January, London still has fewer murders so far this year - 45 against 55 - and its total in 2017 was also lower.

Britain's interior ministry said it was consulting on new laws to further restrict unsafe weapons, including banning online stores from delivering knives to residential addresses and making it an offence to possess certain weapons in public. Before him, Conservative Boris Johnson was mayor for eight years.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said websites and mobile phone applications such as YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram were partially to blame for the bloodshed, the Evening Standard reports.

"There's definitely something about the impact of social media in terms of people being able to go from slightly angry with each other to "fight" very quickly", said Scotland Yard's chief of Knife Crime.

"This has been a horrendous year. It feels like we're in a crisis and we need to respond in that way".
