Chris Paul tweets congratulations to Lakers' Andre Ingram on National Basketball Association debut

Andre Ingram

Ingram's unusual rookie story - he played 10-plus seasons in the National Basketball Association G League (formerly known as the D League) before the Lakers called him up from the South Bay Lakers for their final two games of the season - made headlines prior to the game against the Rockets, and his performance inspired those who refuse to give up on their dreams. "MVP chants, that's merely insane".

Andre Ingram of the Los Angeles Lakers celebrates after making a basket during the first half of a game against the Houston Rockets on April 10, 2018.

"From the team warm-ups, the atmosphere was electric".

"When he said he was being called up to the Lakers, I literally lost it, and started screaming", his wife Marilee said.

Lakers icon Bryant tweeted footage of Ingram's highlights and added the caption: "LOVE IT".

Ingram spent 10 years grinding throughout the NBA's official minor league system sooner than getting the choice up he'd been prepared for.

Silver for England in men's time trial
Men's team also didn't stay too far behind as they beat Nigeria in the final to present India its ninth gold in the Games. The paddler felt the youngsters in the team rose to the occasion to help the country register this memorable feat.

Ingram's debut nearly felt historic, especially when he started off hot.

He is the G League's all-time leader in three-pointers made (713) and was four-of-five from beyond the arc as he dropped 19 points on the Rockets in a stirring maiden outing.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, his 19 points were the most by a Laker in his first career game since Nick Van Exel's 23 in 1993. Ten years in the D League, but it wasn't like 10 hateful years or years I didn't enjoy.

If you knew the name Andre Ingram before he joined the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week, it was probably for one of two reasons. "I enjoyed my time in the league and all of my teammates, and I heard from every one of them".

Ingram and the Lakers will wrap up their season tonight at Staples Center against the Clippers.

"I wondered why those two big guys were back there", Ingram laughed after the surprise announcement as Lakers president Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka walked into the room. "But so thankful it did".
