Naomi Campbell cries as she pays tribute to Mam'Winnie

A screengrab from a Huff Post South Africa interview with Winnie Madikizela-Mandela

Winnie Madikizela Mandela's death managed to unite different political parties who are often at odds with each other.

Foreign dignitaries at the funeral include the leaders of Namibia, Swaziland and the Republic of Congo, as well as American civil rights activist Jesse Jackson and worldwide supermodel Naomi Campbell.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, dignitaries from around the continent and many of South Africa's most famous political and cultural figures joined rank and file members of the ruling African National Congress and well-wishers from around the country.

Rev Jackson compared Madikizela-Mandela to great women in the Bible.

"As we continue to touch her wounds, we must be courageous enough to share her life and legacy across our society and with the people she loved".

"Even before it was fashionable to do so‚" she said. She spoke about the economic apartheid and that made her an easier target.

Her "steely leadership.gave strength to us all". She remains our conscience.

Madikizela-Mandela died this month in a Johannesburg hospital after a long illness.

The family of the late Winnie Mandela has accused the South African government of being hypocritical for praising her after death.

Trillion-dollar deficits come roaring back under Trump
The report does say the USA gross domestic product is likely to grow faster than previously thought this year. The CBO said the tax cuts and the additional spending will boost consumer demand, supercharging the economy.

A packed stadium has broken out in cheers and shouts of "Winnie!" as the casket of anti-apartheid icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela is walked in slowly for her official funeral.

"She is truly the mother of South Africa", Jackson told journalists on Friday. "The contest has been shrill and depressing in equal measure", wrote Palesa Morudu, a publisher and writer, last week.

Dlamini-Mandela, who struggled to speak a few times, said her mother had dedicated her life to freedom.

"My mother was one of many women who rose up against a nuclear-armed state to bring us the peace and democracy we enjoy today. As president, I will propose that we award you the highest order of our movement, you richly deserve to be awarded", Mr Ramaphosa said.

"I am here Mama to express my condolences to your biological children whom I know, and the rest of Madikizela and Mandela family".

The rain had started to gather while Bishop Ziphozihle Siwa‚ president of the South African Council of Churches and presiding bishop of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa‚ delivered his sermon. "In the midst of repression, she was a voice of defiance and resistance".

Malema said despite his grief at the loss‚ he was comforted in the way she died‚ adding that she did not sell out her people.

As the violence of the apartheid authorities reached new intensity, Madikizela-Mandela was drawn into a world of internecine betrayal, reprisals and atrocity.

Zezani was almost born in prison, as Winnie Mandela was arrested close to her birth in 1959 and when she was four her father was sent to prison, where he would stay for the next 27 years. She was not prepared to choose between the two, said Dlamini-Mandela.
