Trump tweet backs away from rejoining TPP

US President Donald Trump now looking at a backflip on the TPP

"Even though Japan and South Korea want us to go back into TPP, " I don & rdquo; Trump tweeted, & rsquo; t even like the bargain for the USA.

"Last year, the president kept his promise to end the TPP deal negotiated by the Obama Administration because it was unfair to American workers and farmers", the White House said in a statement.

Further, he announced stiff tariffs on upto $150 billion worth of Chinese imports, before his economic advisers suggested that this might have been a negotiating tactic.

The CPTPP members indicated last week that they would openly welcome the US if it decides to return to the Trans Pacific Partnership, however, the trade officials have said that they are not in the favor of the renegotiation of the contract. Trump had bragged during political rallies about killing the TPP deal because he felt the terms put the U.S.at a disadvantage in trade.

Earlier this week, ex-FBI director James Comey said Trump was "morally unfit" to be president in his first major TV interview since he was sacked by Trump.

Kudlow addressed reporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, ahead of a highly anticipated working meeting between President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is one of the 12 original signatories to the agreement. I think it's better for our country.

His comments last week came after he unexpectedly indicated the U.S. may rejoin the pact, asking United States trade representative Robert Lighthizer and White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow to take another look at the TPP. But if they offered us a deal I can't refuse on behalf of the USA, I would do it. "Look how bad WTO is to US", Trump wrote on Twitter, Sputnik reported.

"We'll see how that goes", Kudlow said.

"Putting it simply, joining TPP is the best way to avoid a potentially devastating loss of wheat sales to Japan", said USW Chairman Michael Miller, a wheat farmer from Ritzville, Washington.

"On the American side at the moment it's more of the thought than an insurance policy, " Kudlow claimed, according to the Hill". -North Korea summit talks are scheduled to be held, Abe stressed, "This is not a case where Japan will be left behind".
