The multistate E. coli outbreak warning issued from the Center for Disease and Prevention Control (CDC) just received an important update.

That means any romaine lettuce, including chopped romaine, salad mixes containing romaine, whole heads and hearts. Before purchasing romaine lettuce at a grocery store or eating it at a restaurant, consumers should confirm with the store or restaurant that it is not romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region. There are no reported deaths as of Friday at 4 p.m. EDT.

Although the exact source hasn't been identified, federal health officials have said information indicates the contaminated lettuce was grown in the Yuma, Ariz., area.

Consumers as well as restaurants and retailers are advised to throw away any lettuce if they can't confirm where it's from.

Stay away from romaine lettuce.

One case has been found in IL so far.

On Friday, they extended their alert about E. Coli contamination in romaine lettuce from the region to cover the entire United States.
