Ashley Judd Sues Harvey Weinstein for Sexual Harassment and Defamation

Ashley Judd speaks onstage at “Time’s Up” during the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival

Judd is suing Weinstein for defamation and sexual harassment and for violating California's broadly written Unfair Competition law, which prohibits "unlawful, unfair and fraudulent business acts and practices".

In October, Judd sat down with ABC News' Diane Sawyer in her first television interview about her Weinstein allegations. "It's time that Mr.n Weinstein be held accountable for that conduct and for the ways in which he's damaged careers", she concluded.

Ashley Judd and her lawyers have filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, whom she alleges sexually harassed her and then blacklisted her in Hollywood.

"Ms Judd reasonably believed that Weinstein meant to physically assault her", Mr Boustrous wrote.

The accusations against Weinstein led to the emergence of the "Me Too" and "Times Up" movements, which in turn led to women across the country coming forward to accuse men in positions of power of sexual misconduct in the workplace.

Mr. Jackson rejected Mr. Weinstein's denial in subsequent public comments in December, saying that his creative partner on the films, Fran Walsh, "remembers these negative comments about Ashley and Mira as clearly as I do".

Rams ship Tavon Austin to Cowboys for 6th-round pick
Austin gets a fresh start in Dallas, which turned around and traded away fellow wide receiver Ryan Switzer not long thereafter. On Friday, Jerry Jones hinted at adding another receiver after selecting Michael Gallup in the third round.

"The most basic investigation of the facts will reveal that Mr. Weinstein neither defamed Ms. Judd nor ever interfered with Ms. Judd's career, and instead not only championed her work but also repeatedly approved her casting for two of his movies over the next decade", said a statement from Weinstein's attorney, obtained by CNN.

Judd says she was filming Kiss the Girls in 1997 when Weinstein invited her to his hotel room, where he offered to massage her and asked that she watch him shower.

Any money gained from the lawsuit will be donated to efforts to help combat sexual harassment and discrimination, the statement said.

"No person - in whatever job, in whatever industry - should have to forfeit professional aspirations and the right to earn a living to the abusive whims of the powerful", Judd's suit says.

Mr. Weinstein has previously denied trying to derail Ms. Judd's career.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and involves Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" films, according to The New York Times.
