Will Trump summit with Kim Jong Un happen along the DMZ?

Both heads of North and South Korea Kim Jong Un and Moon Jae-In met in the demilitarized zone to discuss peace between the two

US President Donald Trump said Monday he was confident his landmark summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will go ahead, as he talked up the idea of holding it in the Demilitarized Zone between the two Koreas. "I think he didn't realize who Donald Trump was at that time until I guess he could read the book".

North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs have become central to the conflict, and many observers were hoping the summit would provide more insight into whether Kim Jong Un is truly willing to give up those weapons.

Panmunjom is the site where South Korean President Moon Jae In and Mr Kim held their historic summit last Friday (April 27). "Just asking!" referring to buildings located on the southern side of the DMZ.

South Korean officials on Sunday said Kim plans to invite experts and journalists from Seoul and the United States to observe the shuttering of the facility.

Trump's embrace of the site could carry some risk given that a "celebration" during his summit with Kim could be premature. This process has momentum and Trump wants to continue the theatrics to continue the momentum to see if we have a turning point here. TJ Pempel, a professor at the University of California, said the USA president "deserves some credit but not as much as he's taking".

End to hostilities: Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un.

Alison Evans, deputy head of the Asia-Pacific country risk desk at research firm IHS Markit, said: "Trump should receive minimal, if any, credit".

Zidane aims to overcome Bayern in Champions League semis
Ribery joined Bayern in 2007 and holds the club record for a foreign player of 247 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 80 goals. The big guns were back in action on Monday though with the likes of Luka Modric, Marcelo and Sergio Ramos also returning.

Mr Trump on Tuesday morning suggested he'd like to hold the meeting at the demilitarised zone near the border of North and South Korea, with Singapore raised as another possibility. KCNA said Mr Kim found it "a painful wrench" to see two clocks showing different times on a wall during Friday's summit in the "truce village" of Panmunjom.

Trump is preparing for his own summit with Kim, which he said would take place in the next three to four weeks.

In some regards, the demilitarized zone, a tensely guarded strip of land at the 38th parallel that has divided the peninsula since the 1953 Korean War armistice, has always been regarded as an obvious choice to hold diplomatic talks between the United States and North Korea. "The United States has never been closer to potentially have something happen with respect to the Korean Peninsula that can get rid of the nuclear weapons, can create so many good things, so many positive things, and peace and security for the world".

The two leaders spoke about the need for peace between their nations and pledged a "complete denuclearization" of the peninsula.

The Trump administration has said its goal in the upcoming negotiations is the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea.

"It largely recycles the aspirational language of preceding Inter-Korean documents", said Daniel Russel, former US assistant secretary of state for East Asia.

The North in 2015 had set its clocks 30 minutes behind South Korea and Japan, saying the measure was aimed at rooting out the legacy of Tokyo's 1910-45 colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula.
