According to several first-hand reports, Facebook users were seeing a button asking "Does this post contain hate speech?" on all of their News Feed posts, along with options to select "Yes" or "No".

The only issue: some users reported seeing the feature on every single piece of user-generated content in their feeds, including advertisements.

The notifications no longer appear below Facebook posts.

After a user selected "Yes" to "Does this post contain hate speech?" they were shown three buttons labeled "Test P 1", "Test P 2", and "Test P 3".

Rams ship Tavon Austin to Cowboys for 6th-round pick
Austin gets a fresh start in Dallas, which turned around and traded away fellow wide receiver Ryan Switzer not long thereafter. On Friday, Jerry Jones hinted at adding another receiver after selecting Michael Gallup in the third round.

Some noted that it appeared to be a bug on Facebook's part, offering "test" options to people who clicked yes.

Despite not being a permanent feature just yet, this brief trial run of the hate speech button does raise some concerning questions for Facebook users. Presumably, the feature - once completed - will only appear when triggered by certain words or phrases. Here's an example.and I'm not sure, but those onions look a little aggressive and hateful don't you think?

The premature launch was blamed on a "bug".

Responding to a request for comment from Conservative Review, a spokesman for Facebook said that "this was an internal test we were working on to understand different types of speech, including speech we thought would not be hate".

After the "hate speech" identification options disappeared, a Facebook spokesperson explained the situation to PJ Media.
