Greece Manufacturing Growth Slows For Second Month

China Caixin PMI stabilises in April, but economists caution

Growth of new export orders slowed in nearly all of the nations covered, the only exceptions being slight improvements in Germany and France.

IHS Markit reported that the UK's manufacturing PMI tumbled from 54.9 to 53.9 last month, with the sector expanding at its slowest pace in 17 months.

Growth in Italian manufacturing activity slowed in April to its weakest rate in more than a year, a survey showed on Wednesday, casting some doubt over the country's near-term economic expansion outlook.

New orders edged up to 55.7 from 55.6 in April as new export orders climbed to the highest since March 2011, the data showed.

New business rose for the sixth consecutive month. The IHS Markit U.S. Manufacturing PMI report came out first, but the ISM Report on Business has tended to be more widely followed by investors and economists.

As per the survey, improvements in demand conditions and rising production resulted in marginal growth in job creation last month. In fact, the rate of expansion in purchasing activity quickened from March's eight-month low.

'Golden State Killer' DNA search led to wrong man previous year
Joseph James DeAngelo , 72, was jailed without bail almost two years to the day after McNamara died unexpectedly in her sleep . He said, "But every time they said #GoldenStateKiller they credited the work of #MichelleMcNamara and #IllBeGoneInTheDark".

The Eurozone's new export orders also stood at its 17-month low, which linked to the recent strengthening of the euro exchange rate, especially against the United States dollar, the report highlighted.

Part of the increase in purchase prices was passed on to clients in the form of higher output charges in April.

The report said that in April, eurozone manufacturing employment rose for the 44th month in a row.

"A composite PMI above 50 points indicates that the manufacturing/non-manufacturing economy is generally expanding, 50 points indicates no change and below 50 points indicates that it is generally contracting".

He added that "price data suggests that inflationary pressures, which stem from USA dollar strength, subsided slightly as input cost inflation softened from one month earlier and now settled below the historical average".

PMI is calculated using five major indicators: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries and the employment environment. Problematically, the rate of contraction quickened the fastest in just over a year. There is also a continued price pressure as the prices are called increasing at faster rate when both exports and imports are growing.
