Nawaz Sharif agrees to Pakistan's involvement in Mumbai attack

Have no political aims don’t throw weight around NAB chief

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif hinted in his recent interview to a newspaper called Dawn that it was Pakistan terrorists who carried out the Mumbai attacks of 26/11.

Mr. Sharif's comments assume significance as Pakistan has been consistently denying India's allegation that state actors in Pakistan were responsible for the Mumbai attacks.

"Our narrative is not being accepted". The story of Afghanistan was accepted, but not ours. During an interview, Nawaz Sharif has openly admitted that terrorist organization in his country are working actively. Explain it to me.

The PML-N leader was questioning why the trial into the Mumbai attacks was stalled at a anti-terrorism court.

At the time of the Mumbai terror attacks, which happened in 2008, Yousaf Raza Gillani was the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Sharif was dismissed from office as prime minister in July of previous year. "It's absolutely unacceptable", he said, referring to the state of terrorism in Pakistan. He also reportedly admitted, in a first, that anti-India terror organisations are indeed operating out of Pakistani soil.

Citing the military and judiciary establishment, Mr. Sharif said, "You can't run a country if you have two or three parallel governments". India has urged Pakistan to complete the trial at the earliest, and said that enough evidence has been shared with Pakistan to prosecute the accused. "The US and the United Kingdom are already convinced of Pakistan's role". It must stop. There can be only one government, which has been elected through the constitutional process.

The relations between the military and the Sharif government were at its lowest in October 2016 when the latter told the former to act against home-grown militant groups or face global isolation.
