Portuguese global all set to kick off Manchester United's summer spending spree

Man Utd have triggered the release clause of Porto right-back Diogo Dalot

He has enjoyed a fine season yet again this term and Sport are reporting that Premier League giants United and Chelsea are keen.

Various media outlets, including reputed papers like The Telegraph and Sky Sports, are claiming that Manchester United have met the release clause of FC Porto youngster Diogo Dalot.

Manchester United are said to be close to completing the signing of Porto right-back Diogo Dalot as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his back line ahead of next season. The club's scouts apparently liked what they saw when they took in Porto's goalless draw versus Liverpool in UEFA Champions League competition at Anfield.

The Red Devils have been tracking the 19-year-old for months and Mourinho is closing in on the defender. His move out of Porto was imminent as Dalot had just a year remaining on his contract.

She later said crashing was hardly the way she wanted to finish her racing career, but she's "grateful for all of it". Close has marked Power's career with Team Penske since he joined the team full time in 2010.

Dalot has represented Portugal from under-15 to under-21 level and made his Porto debut in October.

Strengthening his defence is a priority and a new right-back to act as a long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia is desperately needed as the Ecuadorian global turns 33 in August. Today, Man Utd are set to sign Diogo Dalot...

Dalot can also play in midfield and at left-back, the position he has operated in primarily for Sérgio Conceição's side.

His understudy, Matteo Darmian, is expected to leave the club in the summer with Juventus having being linked, leaving United in need of replacements.
