Iran has launched a plan to boost uranium enrichment capacity with new centrifuges, raising the pressure on European diplomats scrambling to rescue the crumbling nuclear deal after the U.S. pulled out.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has prepped Iranian scientists to increase its uranium enrichment capacity if its controversial nuclear deal with the USA falls apart.

Israel trolled Iran on Monday with a gif from the film "Mean Girls" after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for their complete annihilation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embarks Monday on a three-day European tour in Germany set to be dominated by strategic differences on Iran, as leaders attempt to rescue the nuclear deal after U.S. withdrawal.

On Sunday, Iran's top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, tweeted that his country's "stance against Israel is the same stance we have always taken".

The remaining signatories of the deal - France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China - still see the global accord as the best chance of stopping Tehran developing a nuclear weapon and are trying to salvage it. In March, Kamalvandi said that Iran could resume this level of production within 48 hours if the country's leaders deemed it necessary.

After the US withdrawal on May 12, Iran said it would remain in the nuclear deal only if were protected from renewed USA sanctions on key sectors of its economy such as oil, in cooperation with other signatories of the pact.

A disaster authority spokesman said a change in wind direction was to blame for the volcanic ash falling on parts of the capital. At an ad-hoc morgue in the town of Alotenango, at least three bodies lay covered with blue sheets.

Iran denies it has ever sought nuclear weapons, which require uranium enriched to 90 per cent.

"I will discuss with them ways to block Iran's nuclear aspirations and Iran's expansion in the Middle East", Netanyahu said last week of his European meetings, noting the issues were "crucial to Israel's security".

"If you have a bad deal you don't have to stick to it especially if you see that Iran is conquering one country after another and you can not divorce this from Iran's aggression in the (Middle East) region". Although much remains unknown about the country's activities, they are advanced - unlike Iran it has built and tested nuclear weapons.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted swiftly to Salehi's announcement, declaring that the Islamic republic's aim was "unlimited enrichment of uranium to create an arsenal of nuclear bombs" to destroy his country. Iran will announce that the process of increasing the capacity to produce... But fears are growing in Tehran that European leaders will be unable to prevent Washington from reimposing sanctions on European companies, which would badly damage Iran's oil economy.

It is doing so in Syria, in Yemen and other places", the Israeli prime minister said, adding that in Syria, Iran was trying to place its forces "with the explicit goal of...

For all of Iran's fierce public riposte to USA threats of tougher sanctions, some senior Iranian officials see the US position as a "bargaining strategy" and believe the door to a diplomatic compromise should stay open. "We will continue our support for oppressed nations", Khamenei said.
