Giuliani says Mueller's team is trying to frame Trump

Trump wrote on Twitter on Monday, June 4, that he has an "absolute right" to pardon himself but said that he had little reason do so because he didn't commit any crime.

It's the latest salvo from Trump in his bid to discredit the ongoing probe by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump later added that the "appointment of the Special Councel is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL! If presidents had the power to pardon themselves, we'd no longer be a democracy", Schumer said.

He made it clear Trump's legal team would combat any effort to force the president to testify in front of a grand jury. They are trying to invent theories of obstruction of justice.

Giuliani has been vocal and aggressive in his defense of Trump on cable news airwaves since Trump appointed him in April as part of his legal defense team. "When he says the President is not contemplating something, I have no faith in that whatsoever", he said.

During a press conference earlier in the day, Ryan told reporters that "no one is above the law" when asked if Trump has the ability to pardon himself.

The administration has prepared the pardoning paperwork for at least 30 people, the sources tell CNN.

Kim Kardashian West met with Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner in the Oval Office last week in an attempt to convince him to pardon her. Trump has not yet decided whether he will move forward with either a pardon or commutation for Johnson.

Melania Trump dismisses conspiracy theories, says she's 'feeling great'
Trump could end up being hurt by the fact that she made the long-waited announcement about her initiative - and then disappeared. In her absence, others have stepped in to perform the duties that traditionally fall to the president's spouse.

Trump's lawyers have been negotiating with Mueller since the end of 2017 over terms of an interview. Mueller has requested an interview with the president to determine whether he had criminal intent to obstruct the investigation into his associates' possible links to Russia's election interference.

Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani recently said the probe may need to be curtailed because, in his estimation, it was based on inappropriately obtained information from an informant and former FBI Director James Comey's memos.

"That's what I mean by begging for it", Giuliani said. The investigation was opened after the emails were hacked from Democratic officials' accounts and published; intelligence officials later formally attributed the breach to Russian Federation.

On "This Week", Giuliani said he thought Sekulow was wrong in saying that the President dictated the statement.

"President Trump didn't take that".

"We said, 'Well, we're not going to have a summit under those circumstances, '" Mr Giuliani said. "If four of them are completely innocent and one of them is your assumption that it's a guilty motive, which (Trump) would deny, you can't possibly prosecute him".

His attacks come as the special counsel and Trump's legal team negotiate whether the president will sit down for an interview.

Schumer says, "If he did nothing wrong, President Trump should welcome a thorough investigation to exonerate him". "It violates constitutional prohibitions on self-dealing, and if you use the pardon power to eviscerate checks on the presidency, that's also an abuse of the pardon power", Gillian Metzger, a constitutional-law scholar at Columbia University told the daily. "Our recollection keeps changing, or we're not even asked a question and somebody makes an assumption". Both Gowdy and Ryan were convinced enough by what the DOJ told them to say confidently that the Federal Bureau of Investigation did the right thing.
