By Law, Trump Must Discuss Human Rights with Kim

Trump said what matters more is the "attitude" he and Kim have going into the meeting.

Trump's comments, made shortly before his departure for Singapore, underline his recent efforts to curb expectations for the summit, the first between a sitting USA president and a North Korean leader.

He has also dangled the prospect of Kim Jong Un visiting Washington if the meeting goes well.

"I really feel confident". Before he left Donald Trump said he would know in the first minute if Mr Kim was serious about the talks.

"I personally don't believe in further shutting out North Korea from the rest of the world, and feel cultural exchange and dialogue - even through something as basic as tourism - is extremely important in better understanding each other", he said.

"You know the way they say that you know if you're going to like somebody in the first five seconds?" Well, I think very quickly Ill know whether something good is going to happen. I think it would be good for the world.

Kristof's take? We're more likely to see agreements to freeze nuclear development in North Korea, with vague promises to relinquish nuclear weapons a long time in the future. "This is a leader who really is an unknown personality. I told him (police officer) that I. would never do this in Singapore because it is against your rules to protest", Mr Lee told The Associated Press. He's also specifically questioned the need for so many troops in South Korea, asking in 2016, "What are we getting for this?"

Warriors beat Cavs to close in on second straight title
LeBron James scored 33 points and Kevin Love 20 for the Cavs, who have fallen into a hole in which no team has ever emerged. The next two days will be angst-laden for Cleveland, though hardly anyone should be fretting the outcome of this series .

During a promotional event, dubbed the "real" Trump-Kim summit, the men waved at shoppers as they walked through the crowded Bugis Junction mall.

"We're going to raise every issue, every issue will be raised", he said.

At worst, the summit will be merely a photo opportunity, exploited by North Korea to heighten the legitimacy of a nation state that is isolated, impoverished and shut out of all major worldwide institutions.

"We talked about ending the war", Trump said at the White House after his meeting earlier this month with senior North Korean envoy Kim Yong Chol.

It's not clear if he had shipped over the massive bulletproof and fireproof limousine that became a social media sensation when Kim was shown being driven across the border between the Koreas during his first summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, in April, with a dozen staunch bodyguards encircling the auto. For years Trump has complained about the USA bearing too much of the burden for other countries' security, and as president he's sought to pull troops from Syria and other locations. The two men exchanged fiery rhetoric previous year over North Korea's attempts to build nuclear weapons that could reach the United States but tensions have since calmed considerably.

"Nobody started talking about a meeting between Kim Jong Un and President Trump until we suggested it at the Olympics", Alan added, referring to their appearance at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February.

During a press conference this week, Trump also suggested that he could invite Kim to the USA if the June 12 summit goes well.
