Griezmann snubs Barca to stay at Atletico

Antoine Griezmann Atletico Madrid Forward To Stay At La Liga Club

Antoine Griezmann has confirmed that he will stay at Atletico Madrid after announcing his decision at the end of a television documentary.

Griezmann, who signed a new deal at the start of the season, had been linked with the likes of Manchester United and FC Barcelona.

As we reported, the 27-year-old apparently recorded two versions of the video, one with him stating he was leaving for Barcelona and one confirming he was staying.

The forward's attentions will now switch to France's World Cup campaign, with the striker set to spearhead Didier Deschamps' attack in Russian Federation.

The forward has been with Atletico since 2014 and last season helped the team to lift the Europa League, scoring 29 goals in all competition for Diego Simeone's side.

"Many calls come to my sister [and representative Maud Griezmann], but now [April 20] I'm not sure".

"It's a mess, you have to think it over".

" But the truth is what I am going to say now."
And he will be sticking around to help them mount a challenge in the Champions League as well.

Griezmann received boos on Atletico's final game of the season, despite leading the club to Europa League glory.

"I went home very affected and my family too, I did not understand why they bust me".

His "decision" behind him, Griezmann can now focus on the World Cup with France.

"They are doing everything they can to keep Atletico growing and so that they can play the Champions League final, hopefully at home [in 2019]".
