TIME Unveils Cover Of July Issue, Focuses On Immigration In US

Showing the toddler's distress while her mother is searched and detained, the image has become a defining symbol of the impact of the Trump administration's immigration policy, where parents and children entering the U.S. illegally have been separated at the border. The policy has drawn criticism from all over the world.

The crying two-year-old girl is a cut-out from a now-iconic photograph by Getty photographer John Moore that went viral in the USA and became a symbol of the Trump administration's new "zero tolerance" border policy.

According to TIME, the image will be the July 2, 2018 cover of the magazine. But the father of the girl confirmed to The Washington Post Thursday night that the child and mother were not separated.

The only text on the cover reads, "Welcome to America".

Mexican fans celebrate victory against Germany in first game
Marquez first appeared for Mexico at the 2002 World Cup and has since gone on to feature in 2006, 2010, 2014 and now 2018. It was a strike fit to win any match, and Costa Rica could not find a way back into the game.

"This is the case for my daughter, but it is not the case for 2,000 children that were separated from their parents", Valera said. It was one of the most heartbreaking he's seen in years of photographing the border, he said. "The little girl immediately started crying", the photographer told NPR. "It's a very different scene now", he said, comparing his experiences photographing families at the border now and before Trump's new policy. In Moore´s words: "All I wanted to do was pick her up".

Yanela Denise became an iconic symbol of opposition to the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy, under which adults who cross the border illegally are prosecuted. "This one was tough for me". "I'm nearly positive these families last week had no idea they'd be separated from their children".

Due to widespread backlash, Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that will effectively put an end to his policy.

"I don't have any resentment for my wife, but I do think it was irresponsible of her to take the baby with her in her arms because we don't know what could happen", he told the Daily Mail. TIME's editors said they chose the image because it was so powerful. A Facebook fundraiser that used the photograph to solicit funds to help reunite families has already raised almost $20 million, becoming the single largest crowdfunding campaign in the history of the social media platform.
