Florida police make arrest in rapper XXXTentacion slaying

Rapper XXXTentacion was shot on Monday in Florida

The Broward Sheriff's Office said in a news release sent Thursday morning that 22-year-old Dedrick Devonshay Williams of Pompano Beach was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

South Florida rapper XXXTentacion was leaving a motorcycle dealership when an SUV blocked his sports auto and two masked gunmen jumped out and fired multiple times, killing him, according to court documents released Friday.

The warrant said Williams shot XXXTentacion on Monday outside a motorcycle store. He was being held without bond in the Broward County Jail on Thursday. In addition to multiple grand theft charges, his last arrest stemmed from weapons and cocaine possession. It does not appear, however, that he has served time in prison for these charges and some of them were dropped. He is due back in court on Monday for a probation violation from a 2014 case and he is also being booked for driving without a license.

An attorney for Williams was not listed in jail or court records. The Broward Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to an email seeking clarification on the charges. It says he "had an active part in the murder of [2 words redacted] by blocking in the victim's vehicle so that the two gunman (sic) could rob the victim at gun point". It was previously suspected that Florida rappers Solider Kidd and Solider Jojo were involved in the shooting, to which they vehemently denied on Tuesday (June 19).

China warns of retaliation after Trump’s threats of fresh tariffs
Brown also said that there are no signs of the two nations resuming their stalled trade talks "in just about every level". Trudeau has promised to retaliate against steel and aluminum tariffs the US has put on Canada's metals industries.

But the rapper's musical success was largely overshadowed by his legal problems, which included him being accused of beating up his pregnant girlfriend in 2016.

XXXTentacion, who sported dreadlocks and facial tattoos, was a rising star. "His latest album "?" premiered at No. 1 when it was released in March, according to Billboard.

XXXTentacion had also caused controversy for his involvement in a variety of feuds with other artists, including Drake, and for social media scandals: He once posted a video pretending to show him hanging himself, and a video of himself pretending to lynch a white child. At the time of his death, he was alone, so it looks like he didn't see those plans through.

"She is stunned, devastated, somewhat rudderless at this point, she's a very young mother, 36 or 37, and one of the nicest ladies you'd ever meet", Bogenschutz said.
