Arabs Pressure Abbas to Accept Trump's 'Deal of the Century'

Kushner says will publish Mideast plan 'soon,' newspaper says

Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump's senior adviser, said that he is "ready to work with President Abbas", a Palestinian newspaper reported on Sunday.

The interview came out after a trip to the region by Mr Kushner and United States envoy Jason Greenblatt. The American officials held meetings in Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt, but were shunned by the Palestinian leadership itself.

Palestinian officials, who want East Jerusalem as the capital of a future state, accused Kushner of trying to undermine Abbas and what they described as their leader's moderate camp. The Palestinians want their own future state with a capital in East Jerusalem. There has been no peace deal achieved in that time.

"Washington is not an honest or acceptable mediator", the Ramallah-based ministry said in a statement, in response to Kushner's interview with Al-Quds.

East Jerusalem was part of the Arab-controlled West Bank until it was seized by Israel during the Six Day War in 1967.

"The way in which you opened your doors to hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria, not to mention your longstanding commitments to Palestinian refugees, is remarkable", he said.

Kushner and Greenblatt arrived in Jerusalem on Friday, their last stop on the trip, and met for four hours with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Nabil Sha'ath, a former PA foreign minister who now serves as an "international affairs adviser" to Abbas, accused Kushner and Greenblatt of "working on behalf of Israel in the White House".

German automakers offer to end EU's tariff's on U.S. autos
The countries have hit each other with tariffs on $50 billion worth of goods; Trump has threatened to add another $200 billion . All told , the $450 billion in potential tariffs would cover almost 90 percent of goods China sends to the United States.

According to Palestinian media, a second air strike aimed at an observation post near the security fence was carried out by an Israeli drone.

Al Jazeera's Harry Fawcett, reporting from West Jerusalem, said that the Palestinian leadership's reaction made it clear that there was "no prospect at this stage" that they want "anything to do with the USA administration or its plan, even ahead of its publication".

Kushner emphasised the economic benefits of a deal, noting that the Palestinians will be able to take advantage of Israel's prosperity if a deal is reached, and that peace in the region will attract more global investment.

It said, in an official statement, that the Israeli army killed 131, and 14,811 were wounded, including 7,975 treated in hospitals and 54 had their either upper or lower limps amputated. It is just an attempt to secure borders of the Jewish State at the cost of Palestinians who would always remain at the mercy of Tel Aviv.

Al-Ayyam said well-known Israeli lawyer, Felicia Langer, who was among the first to defend Palestinians in Israeli courts, has died at age 88 in Germany, where she lived after leaving Israel escaping harassment and threats from right-wing Israelis.

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, and two years later, Hamas seized control of Gaza from Abbas' forces.

In Jerusalem, he will stay at the King David hotel, which was Britain's administrative headquarters during its rule of Palestine prior to Israeli statehood in 1948.
