Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak Shatters Record

The LS3-powered Bruiser Conversions Jeep Wrangler 6x6

This year, Bentley made a decision to take on the challenge to beat Range Rover Sport time. "I'm delighted to take the SUV record for Bentley and for everyone that's been involved in this project", Rhys Millen commented.

To comply with regulations the Bentayga had racing seats installed, and the rear seats were removed to make way for a roll cage and fire suppression system were installed.

The Bentley Bentayga has claimed a new record for production SUVs at the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Bentley and Kiwi hillclimb legend Rhys Millen smashed the Production SUV record with the Bentayga at the recent Pikes Peak Hillclimb event. Created and handcrafted by Mulliner - Bentley's in-house bespoke and coachbuilding division - the Pikes Peak Bentayga is an homage to the achievements of the Bentayga W12 on the mountain.

Millen took the super SUV to the end of the 20km course in just 10:49.9 - taking almost two minutes off the previous record by averaging 107km/h. An additional carbon fibre package adds a front splitter, side skirts and a rear diffuser and spoiler in the lightweight material.

Melania Trump Sets Off To Visit Detained Kids Wearing Bizarre Coat
The president's statement seemed at odds with a statement Melania Trump's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, gave earlier in the day. The message immediately sparked a wave of controversy on social media, with a chorus of furious celebrities joining in.

Drawing links to the weekend's result is a Pikes Peak motif that sits on the front wheel arches. There's adaptive air suspension and Bentley's 48V Dynamic Ride active anti-roll system.

The Pikes Peak Bentayga will be available to order in the USA and Europe starting in August of 2018. "The Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak has now set the fastest time in the history of this hill climb, which spans more than 100 years-that speaks volumes for electric mobility", he added.

The colour scheme continues inside, only with the Radium replaced by Key Lime highlights on the Beluga leather. The twin turbo unit produces 600bhp and 900nm, sending drive to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Aside from that, only an Akrapovic exhaust and specific Pirelli tires were fitted.

Although Bentley won't announce pricing until the vehicle goes on sale in Europe and the USA in August, it's fair to assume a hefty increase on the standard W12 car's £162,700.
