Will Signing Kawhi Leonard Get LeBron to L.A.?

Tony Parker reportedly played a significant role in Kawhi Leonard's dissatisfaction with the San Antonio Spurs.

National Basketball Association superstar LeBron James informed the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday that he will not exercise his $35.6 million contract option, according to multiple reports, making him the top free agent prize.

While Magic Johnson plays it cool regarding his chances to add major free agents to the Los Angeles Lakers, pressure to create his own superteam in L.A. may be mounting behind the scenes.

League sources quoted by ESPN suggested on Wednesday that a huge offer from the Lakers could convince San Antonio to part ways with Leonard, who last week expressed his desire to be traded. The Celtics do have the assets required to make a move for Leonard as they have multiple draft picks and players like Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Kyrie Irving. Still, sending Leonard not only to a Western Conference foe but a rival as well will be a tough pill to swallow. Oklahoma City's Paul George, another major free agent-get, has already declared himself to be on the open market.

While it was believed the Lakers and other teams interested in Leonard wished to complete a trade before the start of free agency on July 1, that never manifested.

One year ago, Paul George was telling friends he planned on going to the Lakers in 2018.

Now we just have to wait and watch if all those engagement rumours (for both of the couples, duh) are actually true. This has become a very important step these days, whether or not you are a celebrity.

The Spurs have wanted to find a way to fix the franchise's relationship with Leonard, but an overwhelming Lakers offer could convince San Antonio to part with its franchise star, league sources said.

Other fans have shared endless GIFs and memes in the comments section where some of them have gained hundreds of likes on Facebook and retweets on Twitter.

The Lakers may do massive things in free agency in the next week or two.

A trade to the Lakers. League sources told ESPN that should that be the case, his ideal preference would be to make a swift decision on his next team in July.

The bottom line is that Leonard can't control where the Spurs will trade him, and so he might have to wait until the 2019-2020 season if he truly wants to be in Los Angeles.
