'Family, Country First': Trump's Lawyer Signals Possible Cooperation With Probe

Trump's ex-lawyer Cohen to break his silence in interview on 'Good Morning America' on Monday

But in his first in-depth interview since the FBI raided his office and homes in April, Cohen strongly signaled his willingness to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller and federal prosecutors in the Southern District of NY - even if that puts President Trump in jeopardy.

"I will not be a punching bag as part of anyone's defense strategy", Cohen said in a 45-minute interview on Saturday with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, excerpts of which were released by the network.

Michael Cohen, the longtime lawyer of President Donald Trump, arrives at the U.S. Courthouse in NY to attend a hearing to limit prosecutors' review of documents seized from his home and office.

Porn actress Daniels is suing Trump and Cohen, as well as the shell company Essential Consultants, seeking to invalidate a non-disclosure agreement she signed days before the 2016 presidential election that attempted to prevent her from speaking out about a one-night stand she alleges she had with Trump more than a decade ago.

In Monday's report to the court, Jones said an additional 22,633 items seized from Cohen were still being reviewed by the Trump Organization to determine if any of that material should be excluded as privileged.

In his first in-depth interview since the raid, Mr Cohen did not praise Mr Trump, pointedly disagreed with his criticism of the federal investigations and separated himself from the president, ABC News reported. He says he doesn't agree with people who demonize or vilify the Federal Bureau of Investigation like Donald Trump does.

After once boasting he would "take a bullet" for Donald Trump, the president's longtime personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen fired a possible warning shot toward the White House, saying he now puts "family and country first".

Michael Cohen, the longtime lawyer of President Donald Trump, arrives at the U.S. Courthouse in NY to attend a hearing to limit prosecutors' review of documents seized from his home and office. "If they want information on Trump, he's willing to give it". I respect the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an institution, as well as their agents", he said, going on to note that when his home and hotel room were raided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, "it was obviously upsetting to me and my family.

"He will do it to only when he has to-in order to save himself", Avenatti said. "I respect the prosecutors, I respect the process".

This is the most well-prepared England team I've seen. "Wooo! That was phenomenal game of football!" They got away with it this time, but they need to step it back up again against Russian Federation .

"Simply accepting the denial of [Russian Vladimir Putin] is unsustainable".

"I want to regain my name and my reputation and my life back", he said. And Cohen also says this probe of Russian election interference by the special counsel Robert Mueller is not a witch hunt.

"I'm not going to weigh in to this issue and I refer you to outside counsel", she said.

Stephanopoulos said he asked Cohen repeatedly if he was considering cooperating with prosecutors in their investigation. "One day I will answer", Cohen said, responding to a question on whether Trump was aware of the payment to Daniels, which has become central to the story.

It's not clear what evidence, if any, Cohen may have to offer the government about others including Trump.

Cohen said his lawyer, Guy Petrillo, would provide guidance on those decisions.

According to Stephanopoulos, Cohen also repeated his previous denials of personal involvement with Russian attempts to interfere in the US election. "I respect our nation's intelligence agencies'. unanimous conclusions".

Cohen also called Trump campaign associates' 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with Russians promising dirt on Hillary Clinton "an example of poor judgment", but declined to answer whether Trump knew about the meeting before it occurred.
