Elon Musk In Hot Water Over 'Pedo' Tweet (NASDAQ:TSLA)

Elon Musk In Hot Water Over 'Pedo' Tweet (NASDAQ:TSLA)

Musk called Unsworth a "pedo", or pedophile, in a tweet that he later deleted.

It has been five days since a dozen boys were rescued from a flooded cave in Thailand, and five days since Elon Musk has been wandering in a Twitter labyrinth of his own making.

Unsworth was among the first to respond when authorities in northern Thailand asked for help on a massive search and rescue operation for a youth soccer team and their assistant coach trapped inside a cave by rising floodwaters on June 23.

Musk's Tesla has never earned an annual profit.

But while Musk also defended his donation by mentioning that he has donated almost $6 million to the Sierra Club, an environmentalist group fighting climate change, he is also helping keep fringe extremists in the Republican Party in power.

The tech billionaire called out Vern Unsworth in a post on Twitter yesterday afternoon.

"We will no longer promote the @tesla branded products until the British Caver receives a full & public apology from @elonmusk regarding his disgusting comments to a real hero", The Solar Shed Managing Director Kevin Holland said on Twitter. "And so essentially if you attack me, it is therefore OK for me to attack back", Musk said.

He said Mr Musk appeared to be following in the footsteps of US President Donald Trump in using Twitter to vent frustration and insult anyone with whom he disagrees.

He later deleted the tweets - which were sent to his more than 22 million followers - and is yet to publicly respond to the outcry.

Judge snags Manafort's perks with jail transfer
Hull said that when jail officials learned Manafort was communicating by email, his attorneys were told to stop the practice. One trial is set for July 25 in Alexandria, Virginia, and the second case in Washington, D.C., has a September 17 trial date.

Musk then specifically singled out Unsworth, pushing back against his comment that the submarine wouldn't have made it even 50 metres into the cave passage, and challenged him to share video of the rescue to back up his claims.

Condemnation of his remarks seemed universal - a mixture of outrage at the slur against Unsworth, outrage against the implied slur against Thailand, and yet more mockery of Musk.

Unsworth declined to identify who had approached him.

Earlier this month, Musk said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek that he would engage with his detractors on Twitter less often.

"I believe he's called me a pedophile". At the end of the day we were here to rescue 12 young boys. "I think people realise what sort of guy he is", he said.

A number of them told Reuters, requesting anonymity, that the latest controversy is distracting Musk from Tesla's main business of producing electric cars.

Today, the diver - who was an instrumental part of the rescue efforts - told reporters he is considering legal action against Mr Musk.

Musk has for years said he is proudly, aggressively unfocused - a billionaire known for his visionary ventures in electric cars, underground supertrains, artificial intelligence and space travel.

The Tesla chief executive has also been criticized over his involvement in multiple local matters.
