Yankees nab starting pitcher J.A. Happ in trade with Blue Jays

Blue Jays

On Thursday afternoon, the Yanks acquired left-handed pitcher J.A. Happ in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Stroman is incredibly talented and enjoyed some successful seasons with the Blue Jays, but there may come a point when the front office feels like the drama isn't worth it. Despite setting career bests in strikeouts and ERA past year, the right-hander struggled mightily earlier this season. He is 7-4 with a 2.98 ERA in 19 career games (18 starts) against Boston, including a sparkling 0.84 ERA in two starts this season.

Former Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ has thanked Toronto, Canada and the team's fans for their support during his time with the country's only major-league team.

No return has been announced for Happ quite yet, but if the Blue Jays are dealing within their own division, then the Yankees will nearly certainly be giving up a quality prospect or two to make the deal happen. Although he hit.176 with just one home run and seven RBIs in 18 games this season for the Yankees, he recorded 13 homers and drove in 63 runs while hitting.267 in 135 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks a year ago. He also hit.294/.403/.447 (144 wRC+) with five home runs in 55 games with Triple-A Scranton.

Part of that decline could be attributed to the wear-and-tear of playing every day, but it appears as though Solarte may have already reached his ceiling with the Blue Jays.

White House defends decision to bar CNN reporter from event
Collins had served as a representative of the television networks during an earlier "pool spray" availability in the Oval Office. She also asked Mr Trump about the postponement of a suggested summit in America with President Putin.

As the Major League Baseball trade deadline gets closer, the question for the New York Yankees was would they get a starting pitcher, which they need, after getting Baltimore Orioles closer Zach Britton?

As of this moment, Roberto Osuna isn't eligible to return from his suspension until August 5th. Happ doesn't cost as much as, say, Chris Archer, but is rather the traditional trade-deadline rental that should add much-needed depth to the Yankees' rotation.

The Blue Jays are in an incredibly hard position with Osuna and so long as he's in Toronto, his status looms a black cloud over the team. The 12-year veteran has a career record of 102-82 with a 3.95 ERA. With his free agency scheduled for 2022, Drury could become a mainstay in the Blue Jays's lineup for many years. These moves fill out the bullpen and starting rotation, but two questions remain: Did the Yankees give up too much? "We felt when we returned him back to third, we could get him back in the comfort level he was and he could unlock some of the potential in the swing because there were some things we saw that we felt allowed for more in the tank in terms of production".
