How the US Military Will Identify Remains From North Korea

U.S. Intel Reportedly Says North Korea is Building New Missiles As Trump Continues to Boast of Progress

Pence attended a repatriation ceremony at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, where 55 caskets of presumed troop remains were unloaded from military planes and placed on stanchions at the air base. It said that imagery collected by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in recent weeks also pointed to "ongoing work on at least one Hwasong-15" at the Sanumdong site.

But John Byrd, director of scientific analysis at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), said preliminary findings suggested that "they are likely to be American remains".

According to the Post, senior North Korean officials may be trying to deceive Washington about their nuclear and missile capabilities.

Vice President Mike Pence, the son of a Korean War veteran, is to fly to Hawaii for what the military calls an "honorable carry ceremony" marking the arrival of the remains on American soil. The North Koreans aren't puttering around with new missiles for their health.

He told the Washington Post: "They'll give a certain amount of remains for free right away", he said.

"I don't have any announcement today but it's natural to get a lot of business done. but we are not there for any announcements", the official said.

The bones' return was part of an agreement reached during a June summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

But Mr Trump was criticised at home for making concessions without securing any firm commitment from Mr Kim to end the nuclear and missile programmes.

Vice President Pence on Wednesday welcomed the return of the presumed remains of USA troops killed in the Korean War and called it a sign of "tangible progress" in ongoing negotiations with North Korea.

They Looked Like Zebras, But Were Braying
Egyptian student Mahmoud Sarhan shared his images on Facebook , saying the zebras were obviously painted donkeys. The picture shows a suspicious-looking animal, with a lighter snout and longer ears than a typical zebra's.

At the Singapore summit in June, Kim agreed in a vaguely worded joint statement to "work toward" the "denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula.

"Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience", Trump said in a tweet.

The Rodong Sinmun, North Korea's official party newspaper, accused Seoul of "wasting time" waiting for sanctions to be lifted only after denuclearization is completed, without "taking a single action" on its own.

Reports last week suggested that a separate North Korean site used to develop missile engines was dismantling its facilities. But many experts say those are neither irrevocable nor serious steps that could show the country is honest about denuclearization.

Meanwhile, a senior United States official on Monday said that U.S. spy satellites had detected renewed activity at the North Korean factory that produced the nation's first intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) capable of reaching the US.

USA officials also are eager to resume searches in North Korea for more remains, an effort that has been stalled for more than a decade due to rising nuclear tensions.

The vice president said that when Sanfilippo was 4 years old she lost her father in the Korean War during a recon mission, and that when Downes was just 3 years old he lost his father operating radar on a B-26 bomber.

They will encourage the United States and Pyongyang "to continue working towards the realisation of lasting peace and stability on a denuclearised Korean Peninsula", according to a draft copy of the chairman's statement obtained by AFP. Indeed, the commitments regarding its nuclear weapons program were so vague as to be nearly meaningless, in my view.
