Zimbabwe election results Could the opposition party win

Presidential election results are not yet out.

"The strategy is meant to prepare Zim mentally to accept fake presidential results".

A helicopter has been seen hovering over Harare as armed troops were deployed into Zimbabwe's capital to try to disperse hundreds of opposition protesters.

Opposition MDC party supporters hold a voting placard up high during the clashes with police.

"The opposition. have perhaps interpreted our understanding to be weak, and I think they are testing our resolve and I think they are making a big mistake", he said.

"Opposition parties have never enjoyed the freedom of meeting their supporters the way they have been doing‚ so they have perhaps misinterpreted our understanding to being weak‚" he said.

In a tweet early Wednesday, Mr. Chamisa said that the electoral commission was delaying the release of the vote's outcome "to buy time & reverse the people's presidential election victory".

The deployment of soldiers and their beating of unarmed protesters tarnished incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa's attempts to rid Zimbabwe's derelict status after decades of repression under his predecessor, Robert Mugabe.

The opposition has spoken of vote-rigging, saying results were not posted outside a fifth of the country's almost 11,000 polling stations.

Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party has won the most seats in parliament, according to incomplete official results.

The opposition Movement for Democratic Change has told reporters that Chamisa is "shocked" by the events in Harare.

"Completely Secular Process": Himanta Biswa Sarma On Assam Citizens' List
Nearly four million people who live in the Indian border state of Assam have been excluded from a list of the country's citizens. States sharing border with Assam were also on high alert to thwart possible infiltration of illegal immigrants.

Mnangagwa, a former deputy president who fell out with Mugabe and then took over from him, has said his showing in the presidential polls was "extremely positive" while urging people to wait for official results.

The electoral commission has warned that results of the presidential first round may not be known until Friday or even Saturday and would not be released until tallies were received from all 10,985 polling stations. MDC leader Chamisa has said outright that his own count shows he won the election, drawing government accusations of inciting violence.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's party is poised to win a substantial parliamentary majority in Monday's poll - the first elections since long-serving ruler Robert Mugabe was ousted.

Priscilla Chigumba, who chairs the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, said on Tuesday it was moving more slowly than expected.

"You voted for total Change in this past election!" the lawyer and minister said.

Authorities invoked Zimbabwe's Public Order and Security Act, which allows police to ban public meetings or gatherings.

"We are exhausted of them stealing our votes".

They were disputing the results of the National Assembly where ZANU-PF maintained a two thirds majority.

Now, almost 48 hours after polls closed, voters still await an official answer about who won the country's presidential election - and suspicion of electoral wrongdoing has gathered intensity in the capital city's streets.

Ruhanya said: "It seems the results so far could indicate the will of the people, especially the rural population, to be ruled by ZANU-PF".

"Rocks were thrown into the compound of the ruling ZANU-PF party".
