Moto Z3 with Snapdragon 835 SoC and 5G Moto Mod launched

Verizon just let slip when its 5G mobile service will launch

The company launched the all-new Moto Z3, which serves as the follow-up to last year's Moto Z2.

The Moto Z3 is the latest in the company's Z family of phones that feature magnetic backings to attach to Moto Mods-phone modules that allow users to customize your phone's look and feel, and increase the battery life, as reported by our sister site CNET. The 5G moto mod will be available in the USA exclusively in early 2019, though the company hasn't revealed the price of it. The 5G Moto Mod doesn't have a price tag yet, but it will be coming to the USA in early 2019. Motorola is also knocking $300 off the Moto Z3's price tag if you use its device payment plan and switch to Verizon while trading in your old phone. Of course, that did not happen.

The 5G Moto Mod packs in a 2000 mAh battery. There's no word on when Motorola will launch Moto Power and Motorola One Power.

The Moto Z3 comes with the price tag of $480 (Rs. 33,000 approx.) and will be available to purchase exclusively through Verizon starting from August 16. Which is to say, the Moto Z3 doesn't have a notch, like the Apple iPhone X. Instead, it has narrow top and bottom bezels similar, to the Galaxy S9. It includes a 6-inch 1080p 18:9 Super AMOLED display, a 3000mAh battery, dual 12MP cameras, and more. The screen has 2.5D curved glass, and it's protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. Also, it is available only in one color model - Ceramic Black. Like other Moto Mods, this one connects to the back of Moto Z-series devices. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Moto Z3 is also packed with Turbo power support which according to Motorola can deliver half days charge in just 30 min. It uses a USB Type-C slow for charging. The handset also a side-facing fingerprint sensor - embedded on the right.

The Moto Z3 runs Android 8.1 Oreo.

Tension in Zimbabwe as European Union observers raise red flag over poll credibility
The southern African country this week held its first elections since the downfall of longtime leader Robert Mugabe in 2017. If no candidate wins more than half the votes in the presidential election, there will be a runoff in five weeks.

In the imaging department, the flagship comes with a pair of 12-megapixel shooters on the back, with the secondary camera being a depth sensor/telephoto lens.

Pricing and exact availability for the 5G mod will come later this year.

It'll be interesting to finally see the speeds and benefits of 5G when the mod is released.

Internally, the mod has a 2,000-milliamp hour battery, and the Qualcomm X50 modem. Mobile operators are trialling 5G networks around the world this year, but it might be some time before such networks are widely available. Verizon Wireless haven't even announced when its 5G network will go live, let alone which handful of cities would be first to get it.
