Ferdinand urges Man United not to sell Pogba

Man Utd transfer news

Barcelona are hoping to add Paul Pogba to their list of summer signings, but it is unlikely that Manchester United will allow the World Cup victor to go without a swap deal in place.

The La Liga champions have had an offer of £45million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes rejected. The 31-year-old won two titles at the Etihad Stadium but fell out of favour after the arrival of Pep Guardiola as manager in 2016.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has warned the Premier League runners-up to not sell France midfielder Paul Pogba and focus on instead strengthening their squad.

BT Sport teams up with 90min.com to bring you the very latest transfer rumours from around the world every morning as deadline day draws ever nearer.

Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, now appears to be touting the midfielder to other clubs. Despite words of assurance of his future at Nou Camp from President Josep Maria, the 21-year-old might not be fully convinced, particularly after the entry of Malcom into the ranks of Valverde from Bordeaux earlier this summer for £35m.

The Sun claims he has told United he wants a £200k-a-week pay rise if he has to stay.

Striker Romelu Lukaku showed his all-round quality in Belgium's run to third place at the finals and proved he can offer more than being just a battering ram target. West Ham are close to completing the signing of Arsenal misfit Lucas Perez, while a £3m deal is close to being agreed for Fiorentina midfielder Carlos Sanchez (Daily Star).

The Manchester United midfielder became a world champion following a string of excellent performances in Russian Federation. United have taken a stern stance in talks, insisting the World Cup victor is not for sale.

In an interview with ESPN FC two weeks ago, Mourinho questioned why Pogba's performances in Russian Federation were so much better than his displays for United last season.

Although Pogba wanted to leave, he also did not intend to ever go to war with his club over it either.
